KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on its readiness to negotiate is another smoke curtain, said spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.
"The statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry is another smoke curtain. Russian officials begin to recall the negotiations every time Russian troops are defeated on the battlefield. Moscow is not interested in the resumption of peace in Ukraine," Nikolenko wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
He stressed that by simulating readiness for dialogue, the Russian Federation is trying to gain time to regroup units, train newly mobilized Russians, solve the issue of lack of weapons, eliminate logistics deficiencies, and then resort to new waves of aggression with renewed vigor.
"We have already passed this in 2014-2015," Nikolenko added.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that those who are really interested in peace negotiations neither destroy towns and villages, nor kill civilians, nor destroy energy infrastructure, nor mock residents of temporarily occupied territories, and nor interfere with food supplies.
"Let me remind you that Ukraine has repeatedly offered negotiations. But I always received either a dismissive reaction and a demand to obey the Kremlin’s ultimatums, or another acts of genocide of Ukrainians," he added.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia is ready to negotiate with Ukraine "taking into account the realities that are developing at the moment."
