By KYIV. Dec 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – No signs of the creation of an offensive group from Belarusian direction are being observed, Russia and Belarus are aggravating the situation, Spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko has said.
"The situation in this direction [Belarus] remains completely under control. It is somewhat tense in the information field. The units of Belarus are still strengthening the border with our country, but neither the number nor the nature of the actions of these units are changing. Belarus and Russia are constantly aggravating the situation, focusing on this direction. At the same time, the creation of the necessary offensive group, ready at the moment to invade the territory of Ukraine, is not being observed," he said at a press briefing at the Ukraine media center in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The spokesman also said that the main task now is to make the defense strong in this direction in order to prevent the invasion of the Russian or Belarusian forces.
Demchenko also stressed that the units of the State Border Guard Service and other defense forces are ready for the development of the situation under any scenario.
