Dec 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The UN Secretariat is studying information from a number of countries on the supply of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Russia for their use in Ukraine and will provide its conclusions, organization’s Under Secretary General for Political Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo said.
During a meeting of the Security Council, she said the UN officials have received letters from Ukraine, France, Germany, Great Britain and the United States regarding the alleged transfer of UAVs by Iran to Russia. Five countries in the letters requested an inspection. The Secretariat is studying the information available, and any findings will be brought to the attention of the Security Council in due course, according to the UN Under Secretary General.
DiCarlo said said Iran’s permanent representative denied the supply of drones for use in the war in Ukraine.
In addition, the UN secretariat is also investigating information from five countries that some of the UAVs transferred by Iran to Russia were produced by an organization included in the sanctions list of UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
