Jan 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Russian occupation forces inflicted three missile and nine air strikes, 14 shelling attacks from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) on the territory of Ukraine in the past 24 hours, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has said on Wednesday.
"The enemy continues to move its military personnel, weapons, military equipment and ammunition to combat areas. Apart from railway transportation, it also uses military transport and civilian aviation. In the past 24 hours, the enemy mounted three missile attacks on civilian objects in Kostinstynivka, Donetsk region, launched nine air strikes and mounted 14 shelling attacks using MLRS," it said.
The threat of air and missile attacks on the critical infrastructure all over the territory of Ukraine remains.
"The enemy focused its efforts on the offensive in Lyman, Bakhmut and Avdiyivka directions and is trying to improve its tactical positions in Kupiansk direction. It conducts defensive operations in Novopavlivske, Zaporizhia and Kherson directions. It also equips the positions and mines the territory along the left bank of the Dnieper River," the General Staff said.
The situation in Volyn, Polissia, Siversky and Slobozhansky directions is stable. There are no signs of forming enemy offensive groups there.
The enemy shelled settlements and defense positions in Siversky, Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, Novopavlivsky, Zaporizhia and Kherson directions using tanks, mortars and artillery systems.
"More than 100 fighters of the Wagner private military company receive treatment in Luhansk, at the neurology department of Luhansk Regional Clinical Hospital," it said.
The General Staff also said that, on January 3, a fire damage on the concentration area of enemy manpower and military equipment near Tokmak, Zaporizhia region, has been confirmed. The enemy losses are estimated at around 80 killed and injured servicemen.
"In the past 24 hours, our aviation inflicted 17 strikes on the areas of concentration of the invaders, as well as four strikes on the enemy air defense systems. The missile and artillery units of the defense forces hit a control point, two areas of concentration of enemy manpower, military equipment and ammunition," it said.
