KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets and Russia Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, under the terms of mutual agreements of their Offices, each visited 119 captured military personnel in order to monitor the conditions of their detention, Lubinets said.
“In Russia’ we visited 119 Ukrainian defenders who are now in captivity. This was done due to mutual agreements between the Offices of the Commissioner in Ukraine and Russia. We visited the same number of Russian military personnel who are in captivity on the territory of our state,” he said in on your Telegram channel.
As Lubinets said, employees of the Ukrainian Ombudsman’s Office talked with the Russians and were once again convinced that Ukraine adheres to the Geneva Conventions. In particular, “every Russian prisoner of war is well-fed, provided with hygiene products, has the right to work, and has the opportunity to go for walks. As for medical care, it is also provided upon requests from prisoners of war. Also, everyone was given humanitarian packages with things and food.”
In turn, representatives of the Office of the Ombudsman of Russia held meetings with Ukrainian defenders.
“According to them, they also provide medical assistance and were able to make phone calls to relatives. The captured Ukrainian soldiers recorded a video address to their relatives, which will soon be passed on to the recipients,” Lubinets said.
