Partners' obligations to Ukraine Energy Support Fund in first half of Dec up by almost 20% – Ministry of Energy

KYIV. Dec 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The total volume of sponsors’ commitments to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund in the first two weeks of December increased by almost 20% and reached EUR 390 million, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy.

As noted in its release Wednesday, grant contributions to the Fund have come in recent weeks from Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

In addition, the UK announced contributions totaling more than EUR 16 million and Germany for a total amount of more than EUR 33 million. Denmark also concluded an agreement with the Energy Community Secretariat on the next grant contribution to the Fund in the amount of almost EUR 7 million.

The Ministry of Energy indicated that EUR 229 million was actually transferred to the Fund’s account from 18 public and private sector sponsors from different countries. The remaining amounts are announced and formalized contributions, the receipt of which is expected in the near future.

Within the Fund, contracts have already been concluded for the purchase of equipment and necessary materials for Ukrainian energy companies in the amount of almost EUR 114 million.
