Peace summit may be held simultaneously with UN General Assembly meeting – Yermak

KYIV. Dec 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv sees holding a "peace summit" in parallel with the meeting of the UN General Assembly, head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak said in an interview with Natalia Moseychuk, published on Thursday.

"The President proposed holding a summit on the UN platform. We see it as a meeting of the General Assembly and, together with it, holding a peace summit," Yermak said.

According to him, "it is important that every country in the world finds it very important for itself to end the war on Ukrainian terms." "Each country can find for itself where it can be a leader," the head of the President’s Office said.

According to Yermak, holding the summit is very important "so that countries like India, Brazil, and other Latin American countries see their interest and be on the side of peace. So that they put pressure on Russia and are not interested in helping Russia continue this war."

In his opinion, "the UN has changed thanks to the Secretary General." "Guterres is very active. I sometimes talk to him two or three times a day. He is very personally involved in all issues related to Ukraine. He really demonstrates that he can be very effective," the head of the President’s Office said.
