Pivdennoukrainska NPP connects one of reactors to power grid – region authorities

KYIV. Nov 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Wednesday morning, the Pivdennoukrainska NPP connected one reactor to the power grid, Vitaliy Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration has said.

"Reaching the nominal power parameters will be completed within 29 hours," he wrote in his Telegram channel, without specifying the number of reactor and the total number of operating reactors.

As reported, all reactors of the Khmelnytsky NPP (two with a total capacity of 2000 MW), Rivne (four 2835 MW) and Pivdennoukrainska (three 3000 MW) NPPs were switched off after the Ukrainian power system entered blackout on November 23 after Russian missile attacks.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), described the situation in the Ukrainian power system on November 23 as unprecedented and deeply disturbing, when all four nuclear power plants were turned off due to Russian shelling and switched to emergency power provided by diesel generators.
