By KYIV. Jan 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The holding of the Ukraine-EU summit scheduled for February 3 in Kyiv clearly symbolizes that Russia is already in the past for Europe, and Ukraine is the European present and future, adviser to the head of the President’s Office Mykhailo Podoliak believes.
"It is very symbolic that the Ukraine-EU summit will be held in Kyiv. With each such specific logistical step, Europe emphasizes that it is with Ukraine from a position of principle and will be to the end," Podoliak said on the air of a nationwide telethon.
He said that by doing so, the EU said the so-called. The "era of Russianness" which, according to him, began in Europe in the second half of the 1990s, ended with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
"This summit clearly shows that Russia is already the past for Europe, and Ukraine is both the present and the future for Europe. And everything will be done to ensure that Ukraine is integrated into Europe as quickly as possible: financially, economically, and in terms of cross-border and military solidarity," he said.
According to Podoliak, this is a signal from the EU to Russia that "please forget about any opportunities to finalize the war on your own terms."
"If Ukraine needs additional assistance to win, then Europe will definitely do it. And this summit will emphasize that Ukraine is a priority for the development of Europe as a whole for the EU," the adviser to the President’s Office head said.
