Politicization of national security interests unacceptable – White House

KYIV. Oct 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre released a statement by the U.S. President about the inadmissibility of “politicizing national security interests” addressed to the House of Republicans in the U.S. Congress, the White House website reported on Monday.

“Politicizing our national security interests is a nonstarter. Demanding offsets for meeting core national security needs of the United States – like supporting Israel and defending Ukraine from atrocities and Russian imperialism – would be a break with the normal, bipartisan process and could have devastating implications for our safety and alliances in the years ahead,” Jean-Pierre noted.

“There is strong bipartisan agreement that it is in our direct national security interest to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty against appalling crimes being committed by Russian forces against thousands of innocent civilians,” she also noted.

“Those atrocities include the hideous use of rape as a weapon and the kidnapping and forced deportation of thousands of Ukrainian children,” the Press Secretary stressed.

Earlier it was reported that Mike Johnson, the elected new speaker of the US House of Representatives, said that funding for assistance to Ukraine and Israel should be carried out separately.
