On 15 December 2023, a meeting was held between representatives of the National Bank of Ukraine, the Embassy of the Republic of Austria and the Austrian business community in Ukraine. Andriy Pyshnyi, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, and Yuriy Heletiy, Deputy Governor, answered important business questions about currency liberalization in Ukraine.
“Transparent communication with business is a priority for the NBU, and we are interested in deepening our dialogue. We understand the importance of predictability of the central bank’s policy for business planning and, consequently, for the revival of economic activity in the country,” said NBU Governor, Andriy Pyshnyi.
The meeting was attended by representatives of 24 Austrian and German businesses in Ukraine – Ukrainian companies registered in Ukraine, including: Porsche Ukraine, Doka Ukraine, AMIC ENERGY, Lufthansa, Robert Bosch Ltd, Henkel Bautechnik Ukraine, and others. The meeting was supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Ukraine, organized by the Commercial Department of the Austrian Embassy – ADVANTAGE Austria and moderated by the European Business Association.
“The Austrian Business Breakfast and similar events are an important step in improving the financial microclimate in Ukraine,” says Dr Georg Weingartner, Trade Counselor at the Austrian Embassy. “These meetings not only encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience between participants but also create a favorable environment for business development. They reduce barriers and build trust, which is key to sustainable economic growth.”
It is important to understand that effective communication with the country’s government authorities is crucial for creating an investment climate that will contribute to sustainable growth and development of the country’s economy as a whole.
The Austrian Business Breakfast is held in a Q&A format, where each participant has the opportunity to ask the most pressing question to representatives of the state authorities. The previous meeting held within the framework of the Austrian Business Breakfast in August this year was dedicated to the discussion of acute taxation issues, which was joined by Maryna Tverdokhleb, Acting Head of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Kyiv.
