Proposals to impose sanctions against Russian clergy reps submitted to NSDC

KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Proposals have been submitted to the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) regarding the imposition of sanctions against representatives of Russian religious organizations, the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reports.

The corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on the Implementation of the State Sanctions Policy on Friday, December 9.

"Recently, President Volodymyr Zelensky, by his decree, put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against certain representatives of the Ukrainian clergy associated with the Russian Orthodox Church. We will somewhat supplement the list with representatives of Russian religious organizations. This is not the first proposed package that includes representatives of the clergy. And certainly not the last one, since our work to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressors continues all the time. Although anyone who is at risk of sanctions has the opportunity to avoid them. It is enough to stop serving terrorists and murderers and go over to the side of light and good. After all, isn’t that what true faith requires?" First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said.

The package submitted to the National Security and Defense Council included more than 250 individuals and legal entities.

Also, after finalization, proposals will be submitted to the National Security and Defense Council on the imposition of sanctions against a number of legal entities and several individuals involved in the manufacture of UAVs that the Russian Federation uses in the war of conquest against Ukraine.
