KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada, with 331 and 332 votes in favor, passed at the final reading bills No. 8196 and No. 8197 on facilitating the restoration of the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which, in particular, cancel VAT and customs duties on the import of generators and other energy equipment, as well as Starlink terminals for the period until May 2023.
"At the legislative level, the import of generators, other equipment, Starlink without duty and VAT is being introduced. Including for individuals. The norm will be valid until May 2023," MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak (Holos parliamentary faction) wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the bills also exempt the import of equipment under the Energy Community technical assistance, postal and express shipments from VAT and duties, and provide the ability to store fuel without a license in the amount of up to 2,000 liters.
"We supported the provision of an opportunity to store fuel without a license. At the insistence of the government, up to 2,000 liters. Large volumes will need to be reported to the tax authority on a declarative basis," Zhelezniak said.
As Danylo Hetmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on finance, tax and customs policy, said earlier, the purpose of bills No. 8196 and No. 8197 is to introduce short-term stimulating tax and customs benefits for the restoration of energy infrastructure.
