Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Dutch Piet Ploeg, who lost his brother, his wife and nephew as a result of the crash of flight MH17, and who is one of the leaders of the organization of relatives of the victims, said that the verdict passed by the court was important to him, as well as the fact that justice had been done.
He gave such an assessment at the Schiphol court complex on Thursday to the Interfax-Ukraine agency, commenting on the court verdict. "Justice has been served. The Court confirmed the role of the Russian Federation. Three defendants who held high positions were sentenced to life imprisonment. One is acquitted, and this is also part of justice," Ploeg said.
According to him, this decision was "very important for him, as well as for all the relatives and friends of the victims." "We could see it in the hall, you were there," he said. Ploeg noted that the organization of relatives of the victims will continue to work "as long as it takes, as there are other processes, in particular, in the European Court of Human Rights, in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)." "Our work is not finished yet," he is convinced.
