KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Leader of the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate, Mitch McConnell, supported the approval of the interim budget, which does not provide for financing assistance to Ukraine, The Hill reports.
McConnell issued a statement in which he supported the proposal of Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson regarding the temporary budget necessary to avoid the suspension of the government due to the fact that the main budget was not adopted on time.
“This is a responsible measure that will keep the lights on, avoid a harmful lapse in federal spending,” McConnell stressed.
He also pointed out that such a temporary budget would allow the work on draft laws on annual expenditures to be completed within the next two months.
According to the publication, if Congress approves a temporary budget, there will not be another bill on financing Ukraine or Israel until January.
