Russians steal 17 ambulances from medical institutions of Kherson region during their retreat – Dpty head of Health Ministry

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During the retreat, the Russians stole 17 ambulances from medical institutions in Kherson region, Deputy Minister of Health Oleksiy Yaremenko said.

"The Russians stole at least 17 ambulances when they were running away," he said on the telethon broadcast on Monday.

Yaremenko said that currently eight ambulances purchased by the Ministry of Health have already been delivered to Kherson region, and in the coming days it is planned to deliver another car transferred as humanitarian aid.

In addition, additional ambulance crews have been sent to the region.

Yaremenko also said that a total of 23 medical institutions, including 15 outpatient clinics, were destroyed in Kherson region.

Currently, 43 medical institutions and about 1,000 doctors work in the region.

"There is a certain shortage of some specialists, but we are working to deploy specialists from Odesa, Mykolaiv and Dnipro. In order to provide medical care in certain parts of the region, we expect the direction of mobile outpatient clinics, where a family doctor will receive, psychilogical assistance will be provided and, if necessary, a referral for inpatient treatment will be issued," he said.

Yaremenko also said that medical institutions of Kherson region are currently provided with medicines.

"From the first days of the de-occupation, humanitarian aid vehicles with medicines were sent. We were preparing for this: starting in September, we had stocks formed in the warehouses of Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, which went directly to the de-occupied areas. Today, the needs for critical medicines are provided," he said.
