Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ensuring the personal security of the first persons of Ukraine’s military-political leadership is an ongoing process: relatively recently, the State Security Service (SBU) prevented an attempt to assassinate Head of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense Kyrylo Budanov and Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov, SBU acting head Vasyl Maliuk has said.
In an interview with the 1 + 1 TV channel, answering a question about whether attempts were being made personally on him, Maliuk said: "They are constantly working on it, I will tell you this. I won’t go into details, as they also learn from their harmful practices. They work not only on me, but on many high-ranking officials of our country. In particular, they have goal number one, number two, and so on."
At the same time, the Head of the Service noted: "But they didn’t succeed, they won’t succeed. We are working ahead of the curve, more than one group has been eliminated. Among those who hatched the corresponding intentions, there are those who replenished the exchange fund, those who died with weapons in their hands and are in the damp earth."
In general, Maliuk noted, "this is an ongoing process – the personal security of the first persons from among the military-political leadership."
"I can only dwell on a relatively recent attempt – there was an attempt on my brother-in-arms Kyrylo Budanov and Mr. Reznikov, the Minister of Defense. The enemy routed the performer here. Before that, they set a verification task for the existing agents in Ukraine – the task of eliminating one soldier. Control over the commission of the crime was made, photo-imitation, photo-reports were sent to them, they paid for it. They realized that they could work and sent the executor directly for a big deal. To begin with, they paid $100,000 to start it all, and already during this we detained them. He went through a third country," the SBU acting head said.
At the same time, Maliuk drew attention to the fact that "there are not one or two such stories, there are up to ten of them."
According to him, a number of criminal proceedings on these facts are in the active phase of documentation.
Maliuk also confirmed the information that at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion into Ukraine, the enemy had a list for the elimination of the military-political leadership, Azov fighters and other Ukrainians.
