KYIV. Oct 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has blocked three more schemes for evading mobilization in different regions of Ukraine, among those detained are the heads of military registration and enlistment offices and the head of the military medical commission, the SBU said.
According to the SBU message on the Telegram channel on Tuesday, the attackers offered potential conscripts for money to avoid mobilization and go to the European Union using fake documents.
“The cost of such services ranged from $1,000 to $8,000. The amount depended on the urgency of producing the fake,” the SBU said.
According to the SBU, the heads of the military registration and enlistment office and the military medical commission in the regional center were exposed in Kharkiv.
According to the investigation, the head of the military medical commission for money entered serious diagnoses into the medical records of conscripts. “At the same time, her accomplice, a military commissar, certified with his signature the conclusions about the clients’ unsuitability for military service for health reasons. In the future, the draft dodgers planned to use the forgery to illegally travel abroad,” the SBU said.
The military commissar was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 (assistance in the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, committed for mercenary reasons) and Part 1 of Article 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The criminal actions of the head of the military medical commission are qualified under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (official forgery).
In Zakarpattia, according to a report, the head of the department of social work at one of the local institutes was exposed for selling student cards to draft dodgers.
“Being in the status of chairman of the university admissions committee, he registered his clients for study “out of competition” and even without passing entrance exams. After enrolment in the educational institution, draft dodgers applied for a deferment from conscription,” the SBU said.
According to the SBU, in Cherkasy region, a resident of Odesa, previously convicted of robbery and banditry, was detained in Cherkasy region, who for money promised the draft dodgers fake documents to travel abroad.
