SBU puts Russian oligarch Fridman on wanted list

KYIV. Dec 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has put Russian oligarch Mikhail Fridman on the wanted list as a person hiding from pretrial investigation authorities, according to the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Friedman’s card indicates the date of disappearance – October 10, 2023, as well as the incriminated article of the Criminal Code – Part 3 of Article 110-2, that is, financing of actions committed with the aim of violently changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power, changing the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine.

As reported, in early September, the Security Service investigators informed Fridman of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (financing actions committed with the aim of forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power, changing the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine).

According to media, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Friedman has “poured” about RUB 2 billion (about $20.51 million) into several military factories of the aggressor country. Friedman lived in London since 2013, moved to Israel in October 2023, and fled to Moscow after the Hamas attack.

Fridman is the founder of the Russian Alfa group and was one of the owners of Sense Bank (formerly Alfa-Bank Ukraine), which was nationalized due to the imposition of sanctions against Russian shareholders. Fridman’s other Ukrainian assets, in particular shares in PJSC Kyivstar, were seized as part of criminal proceedings.
