Several states confirm funding for sending ships with grain from Ukraine – Sybiha

KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Several states, including Belgium, Germany and Poland, had already confirmed funding for sending ships with grain from Ukraine which are on their way or have already arrived to countries in need of food, Andriy Sybiha, Deputy Head of the President’s Office, said.

The representative of the President’s Office also noted that preliminary confirmations were provided by Japan, Turkey and the United States.

According to the presidential press service, on Thursday, a meeting was held by head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak on the implementation of the presidential initiative Grain from Ukraine with the participation of representatives of the Bankova Street, ministries and departments, ambassadors of Ukraine and foreign diplomats, as well as representatives of international organizations.

During the meeting, Sybiha called on all those present to consider the issue of participation in Ukraine’s initiative.

As German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen noted, her country is ready to continue financing the shipment of ships with grain to countries in need.

Turkish Ambassador Yağmur Ahmet Güldere said that his country is still considering how it can help implement the Grain from Ukraine initiative and assured that Turkey will continue its efforts to continue the work of the grain corridor.

In turn, Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Fan Xianrong noted that China supports steps to ensure global food security and appreciates efforts to help alleviate the crisis, in particular, the continuation of the grain agreement.

Representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine also expressed support for the Ukrainian initiative and expressed their readiness to work to make it successful.
