KYIV. Dec 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On December 7 and December 11, Ukraine broke two records for electricity consumption during the heating season, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
“Ukraine has entered a stable winter temperature regime. This means that the load on our energy system has increased. And at the same time, the enemy is trying to cause the greatest harm to the Ukrainian energy sector. There is a power shortage in the grid, which we are forced to compensate by attracting emergency assistance from our neighbors. Unfortunately, we have already broken two consumption records during the heating season. The highest figures were on December 7 and December 11,” Shmyhal wrote on his Telegram channel following the results of the government meeting.
The Prime Minister emphasized that today every Ukrainian can contribute to our energy sustainability, for which it is enough to save electricity, especially during peak evening and morning hours.
“Smart consumption will help balance the energy system and avoid planned outages. Our solidarity last winter thwarted the Russians’ intentions to plunge Ukraine into darkness. I am confident that we can repeat this victory this year,” he concluded.
