Some 13 projects in which Ukrainian organizations to take part selected for funding under EU Erasmus + program

KYIV. Nov 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Some 13 projects involving 51 universities and other organizations from Ukraine have been selected for funding under the European Union’s Erasmus + program for capacity building in the sector of higher education, the press service of the EU Delegation to Ukraine reports.

"In total, 145 projects were selected for funding. Ukraine has the biggest number of projects in the Eastern Partnership Region and is among the top 12 Participating Countries of the Programme," according to the statement.

It clarifies that those 13 projects focus on modernisation of educational programmes in environment, medical education, eco-mining and innovative natural resources management, aquaculture and fisheries education for Green Deal implementation, modernisation of governance and academic freedom, professional education and students’ engagement through comprehensive mentoring and tutoring, professional development of teachers and strengthening of relations between higher education systems and society..

"According to the level of the impact and experience of partners, the projects are differentiated by three stands: 1. Fostering access to cooperation (one project); 2. Partnerships for Transformation (eleven projects); 3. Structural reforms (one project)," the office said.

The ministry reports that there are nine national projects and four multinational projects among funded. 65 partners from 24 countries are among the project teams representing Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Uzbekistan.

"72 partners from Ukraine represent 51 higher education institutions, two research institutions and a number of public bodies, e.g. the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Department of Education and Science of Mykolaiv’s Regional State Administration, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, National Agency of Qualifications, State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, IT and other business clusters, Association of Ukrainian Cities, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, different professional associations and NGOs," the representative office said.

It is specified that four Ukrainian universities acts as project grantholders-coordinators: Bukovinian State Medical University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University, Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University.

"51 HEIs from Ukraine are representing polytechnics, medical, pedagogical, economic, agrarian, architecture, internal affairs representing different cities of Ukraine. The partnerships include 6 relocated universities from the temporary occupied territories. Five Universities are in three projects partnerships: Bohdan Khmelnytsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University (relocated), Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, Dnipro University of Technology, Lviv Polytechnic National University," the department said.

They said these projects will contribute to the higher education reforms in Ukraine based on the best practices and experience of the partners from the EU Member States Universities.
