Some 1,596 Ukrainians released, 35 exchanges of prisoners take place since start of war – coordinating HQ

KYIV. Dec 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, 1,596 military and civilian Ukrainians, including 187 women, have been released from Russian captivity, a total of 35 exchanges have taken place, the coordinating headquarters of Ukraine for the treatment of prisoners of war reported.

"In total, this year, under the control of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, as a result of the work of the coordinating headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war, 1,596 people, both military and civilian, were released from Russian captivity, including 187 women since the beginning of the full-scale invasion," the headquarters says.

A total of 35 exchanges took place during the war.

The coordinating headquarters noted work on subsequent exchanges does not stop.
