KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The state budget for 2023 provides for UAH 6.838 billion million to finance the state veteran policy in Ukraine.
"The priority is to allocate UAH 5.5 billion to provide housing for war veterans, family members of the fallen soldiers who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," the press service of the Veterans Affairs Ministry said.
It is noted that the amount of foreseen funds will ensure the fulfillment of state obligations to 2,843 persons, including those who defended Ukraine and left without home as a result of armed Russian aggression.
Also, the draft state budget for 2023 provides for UAH 540 million for the implementation of programs of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs to provide services for the psychological rehabilitation of defenders, their families and families of fallen soldiers, professional adaptation, sanatorium treatment, development of sports for war veterans.
In addition, UAH 324 million is set aside for the payment of a one-time allowance in case of death or disability.
Among other things, UAH 245 million is provided for the implementation of programs to support veterans by the state institution Ukrainian Veterans Fund, operating under the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, UAH 65 million for the construction and maintenance of the National War Memorial Cemetery, UAH 20 million for the Unified State Register of War Veterans and other services of the ministry.
