KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Statements by the Russian military about the capture of Soledar do not correspond to reality, heavy fighting is now going on in the city, spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty said in a commentary to Suspilne.
"The city is not under the control of Russia, heavy fighting is going on there now," he said on the air of the national telethon on Wednesday.
The spokesman said the enemy carried out an information operation to spread fake information about the capture of the city.
"The situation there is difficult, but the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the commander-in-chief, the leadership of the Eastern Group of Forces are in control of the situation. Now powerful work is underway to make the most effective management decisions, combat ones, which will allow us to stabilize the situation there and cause maximum harm to the enemy with minimal losses for us," Cherevaty said.
