Students of boarding school in Mykolaiv region deported to Russia are safe now – ombudsman

KYIV. July 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Fifteen students of Novopetrivska Boarding School in Mykolaiv region, who were illegally deported to Russia, are safe now, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets has said.

“Good news about 15 students of the municipal institution Novopetrivska Boarding School in Snihurivsky district, Mykolaiv region, who were illegally deported to Russia. They are safe now!” he said on the Telegram channel on Thursday.

The ombudsman recalled that the students of t e boarding school together with the acting director of the educational establishment remained in occupation since March 2022. After a few months, in July, the occupation forces removed the children to the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region and later, in October, they were deported to Anapa, Russia.
