Sweden allocates almost $19.2 mln in military aid to Ukraine – Ukrainian Defense Ministry

KYIV. Dec 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Sweden has allocated an additional SEK 200 million (almost $19.2 million) to support the defense of Ukraine.

As reported in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on Tuesday, the funds will be sent to the UK-led International Support Fund for Ukraine and used to strengthen the military potential of Ukraine.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said the freedom and independence of the Ukrainian people are a prerequisite for a safe and secure Europe.

The Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine congratulated the Ukrainians on Christmas, wished peace and assured them of support. "We will continue to support you for as long as it takes," according to the statement.

In November, Sweden announced a record-breaking SEK 3 billion ($287 million) defense aid package for Ukraine, according to Ukrainian defense officials. This is a billion more than the sum of all previous military aid packages (about SEK 2 billion).
