Turkey's purchase of almost 500,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat to support Ukraine's domestic market – GrainTrade

KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The state Turkish operator TMO purchased 455,000 tonnes of predominantly Ukrainian food wheat at an international tender at a price of $329.9-344/tonne on CIF terms with delivery in December-February, according to the website of the electronic grain exchange GrainTrade on Thursday.

"The purchase of Ukrainian wheat, and not Russian, traditionally bought by Turkish importers, will significantly support prices in Ukraine in the near future. Active tender purchases of wheat by the world’s main importers supported quotes, which stopped the fall and even rose by 0.5-2.5%," the report notes.

In turn, Pakistan this week purchased 120,000-130,000 tonnes of food wheat at an international tender, choosing the cheapest batches offered by European and Russian companies. Offer prices for these deals were $372-397.8/tonne on C&F delivery terms.

According to GrainTrade, this week export demand prices for wheat in the ports of Ukraine remained at the level of $195-210/tonne (UAH 8,000-8,300/tonne). At the same time, transactions with it are carried out very discreetly due to the delay in the entry of ships into ports as a result of sabotage of the inspection by Russian inspectors at the Joint Coordination Centre (JCC).
