KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The bulk carriers Anna-Theresa under the flag of Liberia and the Ocean Courtesy under the flag of the Marshall Islands left the port of Pivdenny on Friday and are moving along the corridor established by the navigation order of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is used to evacuate ships in the Ukrainian ports Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdenny, said the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and Infrastructure (Ministry of Restoration).
“Both bulk carriers are operated by the Singapore shipping company and were in the port of Pivdenny before the full-scale invasion,” the Ministry of Restoration said.
The ministry specified that they were carrying 56,000 tonnes of pig iron and 172,000 tonnes of iron ore concentrate.
The bulk carrier Anna-Theresa has been in the port since February 22, the Ocean Courtesy – since February 16, 2022.
According to information on the MarineTraffic website, the Anna Theresa indicated Varna (Bulgaria) as the destination, while the destination of the Ocean Courtesy is not indicated, however, both vessels are heading south.
As reported, after the opening of the corridor from August 8, two vessels previously used it: the container ship Joseph Schulte and the bulk carrier Primus on August 16 and 27.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, as of August 23, six vessels with 262,000 tonnes of cargo remained blocked in the ports of Odessa.
