Ukraine continues to ask for help to protect the sky – Kornienko

KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is forced to ask for continued assistance to protect its skies from Russian air attacks, First Deputy Spokesperson of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko said.

"We are forced to continue asking for … air defense assistance, because a new infrastructural terror has begun in Ukraine since October 10," Kornienko said at a meeting with a delegation of the Slovak Republic headed by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Rastislav Káčer in Kyiv on Thursday.

He added that Ukraine also needs to provide military-technical assistance, increase the supply of artillery systems, equipment and ammunition for them.

"We have recently been in the East. All the fighters talk about the only request — to increase ammunition, because everything else is there — fighting spirit and modern means of fighting," Kornienko stressed.

He thanked his Slovak colleagues for the comprehensive support that their country provides to Ukraine.

"I use every meeting as an opportunity to emphasize the need for arming and supporting our state in the energy sector — the provision of generators and transformers," the MP said.
