Ukraine invites French-based Suez to join projects for restoration of municipal infrastructure

KYIV. Dec 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has invited the French utility operator Suez to join projects to restore the country’s infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of Economy, during a meeting with the leadership of the French company, First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko discussed the possibility of Suez’s participating in projects for the restoration and construction of water supply and treatment facilities, the construction of waste processing enterprises, as well as the restoration of the ecological state of land, water resources, ecosphere protection.

According to the press service of the ministry, the French company has shown interest in cooperation, including within the framework of the public-private partnership mechanism.

"Russian aggression has led to significant destruction of Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. There are big problems with water supply in the liberated territories, in regions where active hostilities were fought. This is especially true for the south and east of Ukraine. The scope of work is extremely large, but we will restore everything and hope for participation of Suez in this work," she noted.

According to her, Ukraine is also interested in the experience and capabilities of the company in the field of waste management.

"Ukraine will develop a green economy based on the key principles of the EU. And we strive to ensure that the most modern advanced technologies that exist in the world are implemented in our country," she added.
