Ukraine needs more military aid – Korniyenko

KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine needs an increase in military assistance from international partners, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniyenko said.

"Our Armed Forces of Ukraine are concentrated as much as possible, they heroically resist this [Russian] invasion, but Ukraine continues to need constant military assistance, which must not only be left at the current level, but increased as much as possible," Korniyenko said at a meeting with a delegation of the European Organization GLOBSEC security.

According to the Verkhovna Rada press service, the parties discussed the provision of military assistance to Ukraine, in particular, air defense systems, the creation of a Special International Tribunal for the Crime of Russia’s Aggression, and the security situation in Europe.

"European security is decided in Ukraine. When cooperation becomes systemic, this indicates that our relations are strong and powerful. And we can achieve a lot together," the first deputy chairman said.

In addition, Korniyenko said that in parallel with the active phase of the war on the frontline, Russia continues terrorist shelling of housing and energy, civilian infrastructure throughout Ukraine.

"Due to the help of partners, the supply of air defense systems, we are repulsing most of these missiles, but we need continued support for air defense in order to protect Ukrainian cities from missiles, and the population from cold and darkness in winter," he said.
