Ukraine receives CAD 500 mln from Canada – Finance Ministry

KYIV. Dec 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On December 19, Ukraine received an additional CAD 500 million (about $367 million) from Canada as part of a loan agreement between Ukraine and Canada, the total loan amount for which reached CAD 1.95 billion ($1.432 billion), the Ukrainian Finance Ministry said.

The agency said the loan was provided through an IMF-administered special account from funds received by the Canadian government from the placement of five-year "Ukrainian Sovereignty Bond" to support Ukraine on the eve of a difficult winter period.

"The funds will be used to finance priority state budget expenditures, and will also help maintain Ukraine’s financial stability. I am grateful for the support that brings our victory over the aggressor closer," Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said.

As reported, on June 15, 2022, Ukraine received CAD 1 billion ($779 million), and on August 18, 2022, the national budget received another CAD 450 million ($349 million) of a loan on favorable terms with a maturity of ten years and an interest rate of 1.69% per annum.
