Ukraine sends 422,000 tonnes of foodstuffs from Big Odesa ports in two days

KYIV. Dec 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Monday and Tuesday, the ports of Big Odesa shipped 422,000 tonnes of foodstuffs as part of the Grain Initiative, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has reported.

"In particular, 11 vessels left the ports of Big Odesa, which will deliver 422,000 tonnes of agricultural products for African, Asian and European countries, including the Alanda Star bulk carrier with 30,800 tonnes of wheat for Egypt, as well as the Eurochampion tanker with 45,000 tonnes of oil for India," the ministry said.

The ministry said that Russia continues to slow down the work of the grain corridor. This led to a stable queue of 90+ vessels, a million damage to cargo owners, under-export of at least 5-6 million tonnes during the year.

Currently, 96 vessels are waiting in the Bosphorus for their turn to be inspected by the JCC, of which 71 vessels are at the entrance to the ports, and 25 are already loaded with agricultural products. Six out of 10 scheduled inspections take place daily.

"Thus, the port of Odesa recently sent the Brave M bulk carrier with 28,000 tonnes of grain to African Libya. Prior to that, it had been waiting for an inspection in the corridor for a month to enter the port for loading," the ministry said.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, at least 12 inspections per day must be carried out for the continuous movement of the grain corridor.

In total, since August 1, 605 vessels left the ports of Big Odesa, exporting 15.9 million tonnes of Ukrainian food to the countries of Asia, Europe and Africa.
