By KYIV. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The situation in the energy system that survived the ninth massive attack by Russian aggressors on Friday morning is under control, it maintains a stable frequency of 50 Hz and operates in sync with the European continental grid, Ukrenergo said.
According to the company’s Facebook post, the main targets of the terrorists again became backbone networks and generation facilities, as a result of shelling, the shortage of electricity in the system, which had previously been quite high, has significantly increased.
At the same time, they explained that the emergency situation was introduced only for participants in the electricity market in accordance with the requirements of the electricity market rules and applies only to market transactions.
Regarding power supply, the company noted that a state of emergency shutdowns is in effect throughout Ukraine, and its restoration may take longer than before, given that this is already the ninth wave of missile attacks on energy facilities.
As priority electricity will be supplied to critical infrastructure facilities: hospitals, water utilities, heat supply facilities, treatment facilities.
"Unfortunately, there are hits. The greatest damage is in the northern, southern and central regions. Where possible, repair teams are already assessing the amount of damage and starting repair and emergency work," the company said.
