KYIV. May 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) has sent a note to its Polish colleagues due to the protest action of Polish carriers, which since May 4 have blocked the movement of trucks through the largest checkpoint Dorohusk-Jagodzin, Deputy Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Serhiy Derkach has said.
“Those complaints and demands put forward by Polish carriers are not relevant. We work on equal and parity terms with Polish carriers, so we see no reason to block the checkpoint,” he said.
According to the deputy minister, in turn, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of Restoration Oleksandr Kubrakov prepared a letter to Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Andrzej Adamczyk.
As Derkach pointed out from the checkpoint, the electronic queue at it before the start of the protest consisted of 3,300 vehicles that had to cross the border in five days. Currently, the queue is shrinking due to the fact that Ukrainian carriers are forced to go to other checkpoints.
He said it is not yet known how the issue with Dorohusk-Jagodzin checkpoint will be resolved in the near future.
According to Ukrtransbezpeka, as of May 5, there were 2,782 vehicles in the general queue at the checkpoint, and 454 vehicles in the queue for veterinary control. Over the past 24 hours, some 661 vehicles were able to leave the general queue for Poland, while not a single one left the veterinary one. The system gives the expected standing time in the general queue over five and a half days, in the veterinary queue – more than 12 days.
