Ukrainian defense forces about influence of Kakhovka HPP destruction on their further actions: Nothing scares us

KYIV. June 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The blowing up of the dam at Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) is Russia’s response to the actions of the Ukrainian forces which are not afraid of anything, Head of the Joint Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Pivden (South) Operational Command Natalia Humeniuk has said.

When asked how the destruction of the dam at Kakhovka HPP by the Russian troops would influence further actions of the Ukrainian forces, she said, “Nothing scares us.”

Humeniuk said that the enemy blew up the dam in response to the actions of the Ukrainian defense forces.

“They got tired of expecting a counteroffensive and, probably, their nerves could not stand. They inflicted a manmade strike that had been prepared long ago. If you remember, we issued a warning that this was being prepared and the explosives were delivered there,” she told a press briefing at the Ukraine-Odesa Media Center.

Humeniuk also said that these actions of the Russian forces are unlikely to be a well-thought-out strategy.

“They realized that the Defense Forces would still move forward, and thus tried to influence the Defense Forces so that the crossing of the Dnieper did not happen, the landing on the left bank, which they were afraid of,” she said.

Humeniuk also said that not the entire dam was destroyed, but a certain section, since “technologically it was built in a way so as to withstand even a nuclear strike.”
