KYIV. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The issue of recognizing the Russian regime as a terrorist ин the European Union was discussed by Ukrainian parliamentarians led by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Korniyenko, and the United for Ukraine (U4U) inter-parliamentary network in Kyiv on Thursday, according to the press service of the Verkhovna Rada.
Korniyenko expressed gratitude for the adoption of resolutions in support of Ukraine, in particular, the recognition by PACE of the Russian regime as a terrorist.
"This process has gradually started in other countries: Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia. This is the mechanism that works," he said.
The participants of the meeting also paid attention to the issues of Russia’s responsibility for the crimes committed, the creation of a special tribunal and the completion of the architecture of international criminal justice. Among the issues discussed were the security situation, support for the defense capability of Ukraine and its energy system as winter is coming, financial and macro-financial assistance and sanctions against the aggressor.
"United for Ukraine is already more than diplomacy. This is a real effective communication channel for our common efforts to counter Russian aggression against Ukraine, Europe and the world," Korniyenko said.
For their part, the U4U delegates once again reaffirmed their consistent support for Ukraine.
"We are grateful to the U4U states for their consolidated position on important issues and effective support. At the same time, we count on the active position of each of our friends and partners, to which members of the U4U network belong," Korniyenko said.
