Ukrenergo announces emergency outages all over Ukraine due to decrease in generation capacity due to Russian shelling

KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NPC Ukrenergo announced the introduction of emergency power outages due to a temporary reduction in generation capacity due to the eighth massive missile attack by Russian aggressors.

"Due to the consequences of the shelling, part of the power plants will not be able to operate at full capacity for a certain time. In combination with increased frost in the coming days, this will lead to an increase in the electricity deficit in the system. In order to maintain a balance between production and consumption of the resource, all regions of Ukraine will introduce emergency outage mode," the company said on Facebook on Monday evening.

It is noted that initially electricity will be supplied to critical infrastructure facilities: hospitals, water utilities, boiler houses.

During a power outage, the company asks to take care of yourself and your family, as well as help those in need nearby.

At the same time, the company noted that the situation was still difficult, but manageable, emphasizing that Ukraine’s power system retained its integrity and continued to operate in sync with the network of continental Europe.

"Repair teams of Ukrenergo, together with colleagues from regional energy companies and power generating companies, have begun emergency recovery work at power facilities in Odesa and other regions," the system operator described the situation.

They explained that the dispatchers and engineers of Ukrenergo were working to restore the affected regions according to backup schemes.

"Where possible, consumers are already being connected," the company said.

As reported earlier, a number of network operators reported the introduction of emergency schedules due to shelling. Odesa and Odesa region, as well as Zhytomyr and Sumy region, remained de-energized after the strikes.
