Nov 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During the meeting with Sébastien Truffaut, Chief of UNICEF WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Program in Ukraine, and Kostiantyn Khudobin, WASH Officer in Ukraine, equipment for the delivery and purification of water was handed over, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service has said.
"During the meeting, a ceremony was held for the transfer and demonstration of humanitarian cargo with equipment for the delivery and purification of water provided by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The equipment will help meet the needs of more than 3 million people affected by the war in Ukraine," the service said on its website.
It is noted that "the supply includes tankers for drinking water, water treatment plants, mobile pumps, generators and other things to ensure public access to clean drinking water and hygiene."
The transferred equipment will be sent to Kyiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions, as well as to Kherson.
"Further bilateral cooperation was discussed on the transfer of the necessary equipment for water supply and water treatment. Key priorities include heating systems for mobile water equipment, water storage tanks, treatment facilities and equipment for drinking water analysis," the service said.
