By KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. astronaut Scott Kelly visited Irpin, Kyiv region, on Sunday, Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn said.
"Today we hosted American astronaut Scott Kelly. Mr. Kelly is an ambassador of the UNITED24 fundraising platform and was the first to donate $65,000 for the purchase of ambulances for the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Markushyn said.
He also said Kelly set the record for orbital stay by spending 340 days on board.
According to Markushyn, the astronaut decided to perpetuate this record and create a series of works of art in the form of NFTs. The drop was called ‘Dreams out of this world.’ On Space Day, April 12, Kelly put the collection up for an OpenSea auction that lasted three days, but the NFT pieces sold out in a matter of hours. The collected funds were transferred to the Ukrainians who suffered from the war.
