By WASHINGTON. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. President Joe Biden said he would be ready to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin if he comes to the conclusion that Moscow has an interest in ending the war in Ukraine.
“I’m prepared to speak with Mr. Putin if in fact there is an interest in him deciding he’s looking for a way to end the war. He hasn’t done that yet,” Biden said a press conference.
“If that’s the case, in consultation with my French and my NATO friends, I’ll be happy to sit down with Putin to see what he wants — has in mind,” he noted.
At the same time, the American leader said that in the near future he does not plan contacts with the Russian president.
“I have no immediate plans to contact Mr. Putin,” Biden said.
