US senators urge Pentagon chief Austin to provide Ukraine with reconnaissance and strike UAVs Gray Eagle

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Tuesday, a bipartisan group of U.S. senators sent a letter to U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin calling for the transfer of American reconnaissance and strike drones MQ-1C (Gray Eagle) to Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal has reported.

The long-term benefits of providing Ukraine with the MQ-1C are significant and can change the strategic course of the war in favor of Ukraine, journalists quoted senators.

It is clarified that among the signatories of the letter are Senator Joni Ernst (Republican, Iowa), Senator James Inhofe (Republican, Oklahoma), outgoing chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Tim Kaine (Democrat, Virginia), Senator Joe Manchin (Democrat, Virginia) and Senator Mark Kelly (Democrat, Arizona).

In their opinion, training of Ukrainian servicemen to work with these UAVs will take only 27 days.

Journalists report that the Pentagon refused to comment on the letter.
