USA condemns transfer of Russian nuclear weapons to Belarus

KYIV. May 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The United States strongly condemns the transfer of Russian nuclear weapons to Belarus, but so far sees no reason to reconsider the readiness of its nuclear forces, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.

“I will not talk about any facts or assessments that we may have. I will say that we strongly condemn this agreement, it is another example of irresponsible behavior that we observe from the Russian Federation,” Miller said during a briefing, answering a question about the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus.

At the same time, he noted that the United States “sees no reason to change its approach to the readiness of nuclear forces.”
