USA looking into modifying Gray Eagle drone so it can be delivered to Ukraine – CNN

KYIV. Nov 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) –The United States is considering the possibility of such a modification of the Gray Eagle strike stowaways, which will allow them to be delivered to Ukraine in compliance with the requirements of secrecy of technologies in case they fall into the hands of the enemy, CNN said citing its sources.

The report says it is exploring the possibility of making design "changes that would make the potential of losing any – with their sensitive onboard technology – less of a danger and possibly increase the likelihood of Ukraine receiving them."

One of the official sources said that, in principle, there is an option for technical changes, "but those things take time and are fairly complex."

"There’s still real interest in providing this particular system, provided we can make the necessary modifications and they are still useful to Ukraine on the battlefield," the official said.

At the same time, as the channel writes, without any changes, the Gray Eagle, which can carry four Hellfire missiles and cover a distance of almost 8,000 kilometers during 30 hours of continuous flight, most likely will not be included in the upcoming lists of military assistance allocated to Ukraine.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Pentagon rejected Ukraine’s request for the supply of Gray Eagle.
