Vereschuk: It's better to invest in social hostels for IDPs than in construction of modular towns

KYIV. May 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereschuk, who is also the Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, has said it is better to invest in social hostels for internally displaced persons (IDPs) than in the construction of modular towns.

“We have 25 modular towns in Ukraine today. Some 5,000 IDPs at most live in them. We have 4.8 million IDPs. Is it effective? I think it is better to invest in social hostels,” she said on the air of the national telethon on Friday.

According to Vereschuk, there are a lot of housing facilities in Ukraine where people could be accommodated after repairs.

She also stressed that modular towns need to be maintained which also required financing.
