KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A Russian missile on Wednesday hit a civilian ship that was supposed to transport iron ore to China, killing one person and wounding three crew members – citizens of the Philippines, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov has said.
“Russia has once again attacked the port infrastructure of Odesa region. This is already the 21st targeted attack by Russia since withdrawing from the grain deal. Over this period, the terrorist country damaged more than 160 infrastructure facilities and 122 vehicles,” he wrote on Facebook.
Kubrakov said that in these conditions, Ukraine is doing everything to strengthen air defense and cover the south of Ukraine from Russian terrorist attacks.
“We thank all partners who help protect our skies,” he added.
Earlier, the press service of the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine reported that a Russian missile fired from tactical aircraft in the Black Sea hit a civilian ship flying the flag of Liberia as it entered a Ukrainian port: the pilot was killed, another port worker was injured, three crew members ships – citizens of the Philippines were also injured.
“Continuing the terror of civilian shipping, the enemy insidiously fired an X-31P anti-radar missile towards one of the ports of Odesa region from tactical aircraft in the Black Sea. The missile hit the superstructure of a civilian ship flying the flag of Liberia, at the time of its entry into the port. Three crew members – citizens of the Philippines were injured, one of them was hospitalized,” the military statement said.
