Work on social housing building for IDPs starts in Lviv – EU Delegation to Ukraine

KYIV. Dec 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The construction of the first of eight houses for wounded internally displaced persons (IDPs) undergoing rehabilitation was started on November 29 in Lviv within the framework of the project which is being implemented by Lviv City Council with the European Union’s financial support in Ukraine.

According to a statement issued on the website of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Monday, the European Commission has allocated EUR 20 million in grant funds for the construction of housing. At the beginning of November, the LLC “Construction Company Progressbud” was chosen as the general contractor responsible for the construction of the social housing.

“The first building is expected to be completed by May 2024. We maintain constant communication with our European colleagues to ensure that all standards and rules set by our partners are met. We emphasize that these buildings will be fully inclusive so that people with limited mobility can comfortably reside and undergo rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN center, located right next to the construction site,” Director of the State-Owned Enterprise “Lviv Inter-Municipal Bureau of Technical Inventory” Yuriy Telipskiy said.

The EU Delegation team also met with the mayor of the city and the municipal team overseeing the project in Lviv. They discussed matters concerning the project’s development and collaboration.
