KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with American actor and film director Sean Penn, who is coming to Ukraine for the third time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, the interlocutors discussed opportunities to support Ukraine.
In turn, Penn said that he continues to work on his film about Ukraine. He also brought his Oscar statuette and gave it to Zelensky as a symbol of faith in the victory of Ukraine. The award will remain in Ukraine until the end of the war.
Zelensky awarded Penn the order of merit of the third degree.
In addition, they planted the Alley of Courage together on the capital’s Constitution Square. There is also a sign of Sean Penn on this Alley.
"We are very grateful to all the people who came personally to support Ukraine and our citizens. And we wanted to have a place thanks to which modern and future generations of Ukrainians will remember those brave men who were with Ukraine from the very beginning," Zelensky said.
The American actor noted that it is a great honor for him, and "this place will now be one of the most iconic in his life, next to the places where his daughter and son were born, of whom he is very proud."
