KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On the Day of the Workers of the Court of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that only a fair and capable Ukrainian court to work within a reasonable time is a key element in bringing to justice all Russian murderers involved in war crimes.

“The war for the independence of Ukraine poses a strategic task to all of us – to hold accountable all Russian murderers, torturers and terrorists, to do everything possible at the level of the national judicial system to punish all those who committed crimes against our people and our state,” the president said.

“A fair Ukrainian court capable of working within a reasonable time frame is a key element in fulfilling this task,” he stressed.

The Head of State thanked all those judges and court employees who feel the moral meaning of this work and do everything to make justice felt in Ukrainian society.

According to the press service of the president, Zelensky on Thursday took part in a solemn meeting of the Plenum of the Supreme Court, where he noted Ukrainian judges with state awards, in particular, orders For Courage of the III degree (one posthumously).

In his speech, the President emphasized the role of the Supreme Court, and, as a citizen of Ukraine, expressed interest in ensuring stable judicial practice and a high level of work.

Zelensky also expressed hope for the effective and transparent work of the High Council of Justice (HCJ) and the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCJ). In particular, to ensure that in 2023 it was possible to fill the existing shortage of judicial personnel in the system.
